God’s Protection and Provision

 In Articles, Faith, Happy Life

There is more happening around you than you can see. Every day, we make decisions, encounter unexpected circumstances, and face situations that remind us how much of life is beyond our control. We can become so focused on what is happening in the natural world that we forget God is working on our behalf in ways our physical eyes cannot see.

The Bible reveals that angels are part of God’s Kingdom and have assignments that involve His people. They aren’t simply figures we read about in Scripture or associate with extraordinary events. God has given His angels responsibilities, and their ministry is connected to His purposes, His promises, and His care for us.

When we understand that God is working beyond what we can see, it changes how we approach our circumstances. Instead of allowing fear or uncertainty to determine our response, we can stand on His Word, speak His promises, and trust that He is actively involved in our lives.

God’s Angels Are Working on Your Behalf

God’s Kingdom operates beyond the limitations of our natural understanding. While we may only recognize what is happening directly in front of us, Scripture reveals that there is a spiritual realm we cannot see with our physical eyes. Angels are part of that realm, and God uses them to carry out His purposes.

Psalm 91:11 (NIV) says, “For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.” This promise reminds us that God’s protection extends beyond what we can accomplish through our own strength or awareness. There may be dangers we never recognize, circumstances we cannot anticipate, or situations where God’s intervention makes a difference before we even understand what is happening.

Angels also have assignments that involve bringing God’s purposes to fruition. Throughout our lives, we experience moments when the right opportunity, connection, or provision arrives at exactly the right time. Perhaps you’ve met someone unexpectedly who opened a door you couldn’t have opened yourself. Maybe a conversation led to an opportunity that changed the direction of your business, ministry, or family. We often call these coincidences, but we should also recognize that God is able to arrange circumstances and work behind the scenes in ways we may never fully understand. As we believe God’s Word, speak His promises, and follow His direction, we can have confidence that His Kingdom is at work even when we cannot see every detail.

Trust God’s Protection in Unexpected Moments

Sometimes we don’t recognize how much we need God’s protection until we find ourselves facing an unexpected situation. Years ago, Gary and I lived in an old farmhouse that didn’t have heat upstairs. During the winter, the bedrooms could become extremely cold, so we purchased a small electric heater to help warm the room. One evening, as I was praying before bed, I thanked the Lord for giving His angels charge over us and protecting us in all our ways. Something about that prayer stood out to me. It wasn’t something I normally prayed in that moment, but I sensed a particular awareness of those words in my spirit.

Later that night, I suddenly heard what sounded like an alarm. I woke up and looked toward the alarm clock, only to notice flames reflecting in the glass. The electric heater had caught fire, with flames rising several feet into the air. It was positioned near our curtains and clothing, and the situation could have become devastating very quickly. I immediately called out to Gary, who jumped out of bed, unplugged the heater, carried it downstairs, and threw it outside into the snow. What struck me afterward was that there hadn’t actually been an alarm sounding. I believe an angel alerted me to the danger and helped protect us from what could have been a terrible fire. That experience reminded me that God’s protection isn’t limited to the dangers we know to watch for.

Never Underestimate the Power of the Name of Jesus

There is power in the name of Jesus, and we should never underestimate the importance of calling on Him when we need help. We don’t have to wait until we understand every circumstance or have the perfect words to pray. Our confidence rests in His authority and His ability to intervene. I remember another frightening situation involving one of our children when he was only 19 months old. I had stopped to help an elderly woman, and while I was assisting her, our son managed to get out of his car seat and move the gearshift in our van. Suddenly, the vehicle began rolling with him inside. In that moment, I called out the name of Jesus. The van changed direction and eventually came to a stop against a curb. I believe God’s angels intervened and protected our son from serious harm.

We’ve heard many testimonies of God’s protection through the years, including the story of a young woman who now works in our ministry. When she was just two years old, she was thrown from a vehicle during a terrible collision. Her family couldn’t immediately find her, but an uncle who was two states away suddenly woke up and began praying in the Spirit. When she was found, she had miraculously escaped injury. Stories like these remind us that we serve a God who cares deeply about our lives. We don’t have to live expecting disaster or allowing fear to control our thoughts. We can remain prayerful, exercise wisdom, and trust that God hears us when we call upon Him.

Look Beyond What Your Senses Can See

One of the greatest challenges we face in walking by faith is learning not to depend entirely on our physical senses. We naturally evaluate circumstances according to what we can see, hear, feel, and understand. Those senses help us navigate everyday life, but they cannot reveal everything God is doing. Proverbs 3:5–6 teach us to trust the Lord wholeheartedly, refuse to depend solely on our own understanding, and acknowledge Him as the One who directs our paths. That means there will be times when we don’t have all the information we want, yet we can still trust His Word and follow His leading.

I’m a very visual person. I appreciate beautiful things, enjoy art, and often understand situations better when I can see how everything fits together. But I’ve also learned that if I rely exclusively on what my senses tell me, I can miss what God is saying. The spiritual realm is real, even when it isn’t visible to us. The Holy Spirit helps us recognize what natural understanding alone cannot reveal. We should never become so occupied with what is happening around us that we forget to acknowledge the One who sees everything. God knows the opportunities ahead of us, the challenges we may encounter, and the direction we need to take. His wisdom can lead us where our understanding cannot.

“We can’t just lean on our five senses. If we do, we’ll miss the Word of God.”

Live with Confidence in God’s Care

You may not always recognize the ways God is working in your life. Sometimes His protection becomes evident through a situation you narrowly escaped. Other times, His provision comes through an unexpected connection, an opportunity, or an answer to prayer that arrives at just the right moment. What matters is learning to trust Him regardless of what you can see. His Word gives us a foundation for faith, His Spirit provides guidance, and His angels carry out the assignments He has given them.

So, don’t allow circumstances to become the final authority in your life. Continue speaking God’s Word, remain sensitive to His direction, and acknowledge Him in every area of your life. There is more happening around you than your eyes can see. Trust the God who sees it all.
